SUMMARY:Open Mic Night
DESCRIPTION:Open MIc Night offers an opportunity for performing artists to get up and share their talents.  Artists can play covers of popular music or their own original songs\, sing karaoke\, tell stand-up comedy\, read poetry\, or reminisce through storytelling.  Many previous attendees and first timers on the stage say it has helped build their confidence.  The event is on the second Friday of the month and starts at 7pm.  Performers and attendees are asked to pay a $5 cover\, concessions are available\, and people can bring their favorite beverages.

SUMMARY:Linda Sitton - Pottery & Leatherwork Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Linda began with pottery in 1974 and later expanded her craft to include leatherwork in 2015.  She shared “My work often reflects my personal interests in horses and sports\, which I enjoy blending into my designs.  The most rewarding part of my process is creating and designing original art.  I’m especially motivated by custom projects\, whether it’s a unique purse\, a special pottery piece\, or custom-made chaps”. \nExhibit is open November 2-23.  Thursdays and Fridays 11 am – 2 pm and Saturdays and Sundays 1 pm – 2 pm. \nAn opening reception is planned 11/02/25 from 1-4 at 117 W Davie Street\, Anna\, IL.

SUMMARY:Picking with Old Goat
DESCRIPTION:Visit with a unique local artist who focuses on the production of cigar box guitars.  Alan Dillard will be with us on October 19th at 2pm to discuss his craft and demonstrate on a number of guitars which he has built.  Alan is a widely displayed artist on permanent display in Alabama as well as part of a traveling cigar box guitar exhibit which started at the Blues Hall of Fame and is currently traveling the United States.  He builds some custom\, full-size guitars as well. \nThe event is free to attend and open to the public. \nEnter a raffle for a chance to win an original cigar box guitar!  Tickets will be sold at the SHAC for most of the fall leading up to the event and after with 1 for $10 of 3 for $20.  The drawing will take place after the bulk of SHAC’s fall events in mid-December.  You do not have to be present to win.

DESCRIPTION:Paint a square on the sidewalk and create a masterpiece for everyone in town to see.  Every year the SHAC provides materials and space for festival goers to create their own unique piece of art in the center of the celebration.  Don’t worry\, it doesn’t count as graffiti! \nThe event will be running 11 am – 3 pm and the square\, paint\, and brushes are provided for a modest fee of $10.
